Ensuring minority rights in Nepal's new constitution
These photos were taken by Support Nepal that had recently organized a regional training conference called 'Together for Rights' that focused on minority rights within the context of state restructuring in Nepal. The conference, held earlier this year in January, was held in seven places all around Nepal's five regions and included the participation of minority communities such as the Madeshi, Dalits, Mahilas, Janjatis and religious minorities.
Support Nepal's aims with this conference were to discuss and share details of minority rights and to establish it in the midst of Nepal's State Restructuring process and to ultimately endeavour for the inclusion of minority rights in the new Nepali Constitution. In particular, the rights of Nepal's most excluded, exploited and discriminated minorities were focused on - that of the Dalits, Madheshi, women, lingusitic and religious groups.
