Hungary: Rap in Halmaj

The reporters of Cicsero took a trip down to Halmaj and they had a conservation with a talented young man who spends his spare time with rapping, and already got noticed in a talent scouting competition.

Barnabás Filep, 28, has been living here for six years. Currently he is unemployed, but occasionally he works for the local government. Unfortunately he did not have a chance to prosecute his studies, but he discovered a musical genre in which our star sees a chance to rise. The song „Takarítón?” (cleaning lady in English) of Animal Cannibals played a crucial role in his musical advance, that gave him the first push towards this musical stlye. He attended the qualifications of „Csillag születik” (a talent scouting television show) where the jury commented that he has talent, but unfortunatley he didn’t make it to the semi finals. However, the rapper is not giving up, but practising even more. He even had a gig with his favourite band in Hajdúszoboszló. His idols comforted him and told him to go on with the practising of hip-hop „talking”. According to his neighbours, our musician is a decent and respectful boy, and they hope that maybe our rap singer will be famous sometime. He has got a lot of fans, among others the old lady next door, who said: „I remember how happy I was when you stood up to sing.” We can find his music on different community sites such as Facebook, and with the help of the internet, he has got a constantly growing group of fans. Barna sees a chance in this genre, practising every day a little more, and hopes that he will be the Gypsy Rap star of Halmaj.
