MRG Podcast: October 2010
MRG is pleased to present our first podcast, which features interviews and music recorded by staff members as they go about their work in support of minorities and indigenous peoples around the world. October’s podcast includes:
French linguist Jean-Michel Filippi speaking about why the S'aoch people of Cambodia are losing their language and culture.
An interview in Spanish with Oswaldo Bilbao of the Peruvian organisation, Ethnic Development Centre, and Joel Campbell, of Centre for Human Citizens and Autonomy Rights in Nicaragua. Joel and Oswaldo, are both Afro-descendants.
A field recording of women from the Endorois community, in Lake Bogoria, Kenya, singing a traditional song. In February the community won a landmark case at the African Commission, whereby the Kenyan government was found guilty of violating their rights in evicting them from their ancestral lands to make way for a wildlife reserve in the 1970s.
