Argentina: Radio Programme on African-descendant self-recognition in the Americas

Alternative content

Indoafroamerica is a weekly radio program dedicated to minority rights produced by Argentina rights organization and MRG partner Casa de la Cultura Indo-Afro-Americana, which has been on the air for more than a decade on Radio Nacional de Santa Fe.

This episode, Program 393: Autoreconocimiento Afrodescendiente, focuses on Afro-descendants' need for self recognition of their ancestral origins as a means of dealing with social alienation and marginalization.

The programme is a homage to Jesus Garcia, an influential regional activist and researcher who has consistently sought to clarify the connection between diaspora populations and their indigenous African ancestral roots.  It includes an explanation of African words that have entered Spanish language use in the Rio de la Plata region of South America (Argentina/Uruguay).
