Costa Rica: Final Declaration of the First World Conference on Afrodescendant Youth

With 2011 having been declared the International Year of Youth (UN Resolution 64/134 ) as well as The Year of People of African Descent (UN Resolution 64/169) 150 Afrodescendant  youth participants from 40 countries in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean met in the city of San Jose, Costa Rica, at the First World Conference of Afrodescendant Youth.

The conference was convened by the Círculo de Juventud Afrodescendiente de las Américas (Afrodescendant Youth Circle of the Americas) and aimed to provide opportunities for meetings, discussions and sharing of experiences, and also for the promotion and stengthening of the political expression and involvement of young leaders at the international level. MRG was kindly asked along to observe the proceedings and give a workshop on using new media for advocacy.
