The Chin people have for decades faced racial discrimination, religious persecution, forced labour and internal displacement. In this interview with MRG's Director of Prgrammes, Shobha Das, Salai Za Uk Ling, Program Director at the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO), describes the systematic human rights violations that come as a result of the heavy presence of the Burmese Army. He covers several pertinent issues including the food crisis suffered in 2007, the dangers of operating as a field reporter, the political and religious repression faced by the Chin people and the complete lack of accountability of the Burmese Army.

Salai Za Uk Ling, a Chin himself, has worked with CHRO for over ten years and is currently based in Thailand.
